Islands

Helsinki and the metropolitan area are surrounded by a unique archipelago that is the perfect place for spending pleasant summer days. Some of the islands are connected by a bridge, while others are served by ferry. Some of the islands are small islets that can only be reached by boat or kayak. Explore the most popular islands and their services.

Head out to sea with a city rowing boat

You can use a Baltic Sea boat free of charge from Lauttasaari, Mustikkamaa, Hietaniemi and Töölönlahti Bay. In addition, you can rent an archipelago boat for a small fee from Vuosaari. With the Baltic Sea boat, you can also try magnet fishing (plogging) which is lifting metal debris out of the sea.

These activities have been made possible by the participatory budget project OmaStadi.
