The event brought together women from different cultures
A discussion on mental well-being using the Erätauko method has just ended in the Ateneum Studio space. The event was attended by 15 women of different ages and backgrounds who had moved to Finland. The theme of the discussion, mental well-being, came from women involved in organisations.
- We asked our partner organisations Nicehearts and Iny (Iraqi Women's Association) what would be a topic or theme that women would like to discuss. From both organisations, a welfare theme was suggested as a topic for discussion. It's a good topic that touches everyone and is always topical," says Kirsti Kallansalo, Borough Liaison.
- I'm glad I came along! It was good to hear from others and get to know women from different backgrounds. Thank you!
- We are united by our femininity and we all want to succeed in life. I got a lot of positive energy from this!
The power of cooperation
The Ladies Rise and Shine event started on 6 March with a preview of the new Borderbreakers exhibition at the Ateneum. The 70 women who attended the event were the first to have the opportunity to discover the new exhibition. In addition to the exhibition, there was the opportunity to take part in an art workshop, which proved to be a popular event.
– Incredible activity, a relaxing moment that personally drive to me into deep reflection of womanhood, and the systemic barriers women face in their own lives.
-We organised the Ladies Rise and Shine event for the first time together with the National Museum and Nicehearts in May 2023, when we discussed the services of the City of Helsinki together with women who have moved to Finland. The event was a great success and the atmosphere was warm! We received requests to organise a similar event again. And now here we are, at the Ateneum, with a great preview of the wonderful Borderbreakers exhibition and a touching and successful discussion on mental wellbeing that has just ended. We have another debate on the same theme coming up, says Marjaana Jaranne, City Pilot, with a smile.
- We are very happy to have Ateneum as our partner. They have brought valuable and unique content to the event, but without their cooperation we would not have been able to reach such a wide range of women of different backgrounds and ages," adds Kallansalo.
Cooperation with organisations and the Ateneum has been inspiring.
-We all have a strong desire to continue working together to promote the inclusion of women who have migrated to Finland. This is a great opportunity for new experiments, with a creative approach!" say Marjaana Jaranne and Kirsti Kallansalo.
