Apunappi helps school children and students contact student welfare and health care services

The City of Helsinki schools have started using a new e-service, Apunappi (‘help button’). It allows children and young people to contact school social workers, psychologists, nurses and health care and social welfare services for young people swiftly and easily. The service was developed at the request of children and young people themselves.

Pupils can access the Apunappi service by clicking on the squirrel icon on the desktop of their computer. Pupils got to vote on which character would be used as the mascot of Apunappi – the winner was the playful squirrel, who was named Nutti. Nutti points to the button and says (in Finnish): “Hi! Is something bothering you or do you need help? Press here!"
