Fenix Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit is located in Sörnäinen, with excellent transport connections.

We operate in the Kinapori Senior Centre in Sörnäinen. Our facilities offer a safe and peaceful environment that supports your recovery.

Our staff have extensive expertise in supporting the rehabilitation of clients with substance abuse and mental health issues. We utilise the principles of rehabilitative care. We encourage you to do things independently and provide guidance and assistance whenever you need it.

Fenix employs a multi-disciplinary team with practical nurses, nurses, and a physiotherapist. A social instructor and an occupational therapist will also support your rehabilitation.

A home care doctor attends the weekly rehabilitation meetings as required. During these meetings, we will discuss your rehabilitation goals and progress with you.

You can be admitted to a rehabilitation period if it is deemed necessary in a service needs assessment.

We charge a short-term care fee for fixed-term assessment and rehabilitation periods.

Personal documents

  • Kela card
  • ID card or other form of identification
  • Up-to-date medication list
  • Taxi card, if you have one

Medicines

  • All your regular medicines and any medicines you may need to take, in their original packaging
  • Diabetes supplies or other medical supplies, if you use them

Clothing and footwear

  • Comfortable indoor and outdoor clothing that can be washed at 40 degrees or higher
  • Sturdy indoor and outdoor shoes
  • Nightwear
  • Enough changes of clothes 

Don’t forget to label all your clothes!

Toiletries

  • Personal care and hygiene products and protective products
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shaving equipment
  • Comb
  • Any skincare products

Assistive equipment

  • Glasses, hearing aids and their batteries
  • Mobility aids you use on a daily basis (e.g. a walker or walking stick)

Other necessary items

  • Home keys
  • Phone and charger
  • A small amount of cash for travel to and from home visits (and possibly for a pedicure, a barber or a visit to the café)
  • You can also bring your own magazines or books, for example.

It is advisable to leave valuables, such as jewellery and expensive electronic devices, as well as your safety wristband, at home. 

The duration of the period is tailored to you and depends on your needs.

The Fenix Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit is located at the Kinapori Senior Centre, in a cosy and community-oriented environment. During your rehabilitation period, you can also participate in events and cultural activities at the senior centre.

You can go to the gym and participate in exercise classes. Exercise improves your physical wellbeing and improves your mood.

We respect your privacy and your right of self-determination. You can participate in joint activities when you feel up to it, or spend time on your own. We hope that you will commit to the rehabilitation plan drawn up with you.

The premises at Fenix are accessible, and moving around the building is easy even with mobility aids. The peaceful and uncluttered yard offers a safe place to spend time outdoors. The facilities support a safe and smooth daily life.

You will have your own room with a bathroom. The unit also has some twin rooms. The rooms have a small balcony.

The shared facilities include a dining area, a lounge, and a small group room. You can spend time with others, participate in group activities, and meet your loved ones in the common areas.

You can have your meals in the communal dining area together with the other residents. You will participate in mealtimes according to your own abilities, for example by serving yourself food or spreading butter on your bread.

Sometimes, we may also have a meal as a group at the service centre’s restaurant.

The environment around Kinapori is urban but pleasant. There are parks and small green areas nearby. You can spend time outdoors in the garden and the surrounding area with staff or your loved ones.

Shops and public transport are nearby. Kinapori is easy to reach by taxi, metro, or tram.

Your day is structured around your personal rehabilitation plan. The plan may include, for example:

  • guided gym training
  • occupational therapy groups
  • practising everyday skills, such as getting dressed and looking after your personal hygiene

Our staff will guide and assist you where necessary. We also organise various activities and outdoor excursions. You can choose for yourself which activities you’d like to participate in. The weekly programme is on display on the notice board. 

Your loved ones can visit you at their convenience. If your guest wishes to bring a pet with them, please arrange this with the staff in advance.

The Kinapori Senior Centre is easy to reach by public transport. Paid street parking is available nearby, as well as a limited number of free customer parking spaces in the Kinaporinkatu carpark. 

You can spend time with your guests in your own room or in the common areas. Your guests can bring their own snacks or you can visit the Onni restaurant. The restaurant is open:

Your loved ones can also take you out for a walk or to visit friends and family. Please inform the staff of this.

Our multi-disciplinary team will support you throughout your rehabilitation period. 

  • Your appointed nurse is responsible for your day-to-day life and is there to support you. 
  • Practical nurses, nurses, and care assistants ensure your day-to-day care and wellbeing.
  • Your doctor is responsible for your medical care. 
  • A social instructor can help you with everyday matters and questions related to your life situation. 
  • A physiotherapist supports your mobility and physical functional capacity. 
  • An occupational therapist helps you with everyday tasks and supports your mental wellbeing.
