Vaccinations start for the 65–74 age group

We offer the influenza vaccine to everyone in this age group. Some people aged 65 to 74 are also eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Please check your eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine before booking your appointment. For more information, please visit hel.fi/vaccinations.

When you come for your vaccination, please remember:

  1. The vaccine is available by appointment only.
  2. Come to your appointment only if you are healthy, and please be on time.
  3. Bring your Kela card or ID with you.
  4. Please wear clothing that allows for easy exposure of your upper arm.

Vaccinations for people under 65 to start on 27 October at health stations

The vaccination weeks at health stations will continue until 14 November. People of all ages can book an appointment for a vaccination between 27 October and 14 November.

Clinics to vaccinate their own clients

Pregnant people and children aged from 6 months to 6 years can get the influenza vaccine at their own maternity and child health clinic during a medical check-up from the beginning of October or by appointment starting from 27 October.

Clinic clients who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine can be vaccinated at the Ruoholahti Maternity and Child Health Clinic by appointment. Please check your eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine before booking your appointment. For more information, please visit hel.fi/vaccinations.

Vaccinations for people under 65 starting at health stations on 27 October

Vaccinations for people aged 75 and over have started. Vaccinations for people aged 65–74 will begin on 13 October, and vaccinations for people under 65 will be arranged between 27 October and 14 November.

People aged 65 and over can also book appointments for vaccination after their designated vaccination weeks. Vaccination weeks at health stations will continue until 14 November.

Appointment booking for maternity and child health clinic clients to open on 8 October

Pregnant people and children aged 6 months to 6 years can receive the influenza vaccine at their own maternity or child health clinic, either during a scheduled health check or by appointment.

Maternity and child health clinic clients who belong to the COVID-19 vaccination target groups will receive their COVID-19 vaccine at Ruoholahti Maternity and Child Health Clinic by appointment.

Vaccinations at maternity and child health clinics will take place between 27 November 2025 and 30 January 2026.

Influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for people aged 75 and over starting 

Influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for people aged 75 and over will be carried out at health stations from 30 September.

When coming to the health station for your vaccination, please remember:

  1. The vaccination is available by appointment only.
  2. Arrive on time and only if you are feeling well.
  3. Bring your Kela card or another form of ID.
  4. Wear clothing that allows easy access to your upper arm.

If you need to postpone or cancel your appointment, you can do so in Maisa. If you are unable to use Maisa, please call the appointment booking number +358 9 310 46300(Link starts a phone call) , Mon–Fri 8.00–16.00. There is no callback feature in this service. A fee of EUR 56.80 will be charged for missed and uncancelled appointments for anyone over the age of 18.

If you cannot attend during the vaccination weeks for your age group, you can book an appointment for later weeks.

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has updated its recommendations on the target groups for COVID-19 vaccinations. This means that only some people aged 65–74 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine this year. Please check your eligibility before booking an appointment. Helsinki offers influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for target groups from the end of September 

Helsinki provides free influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for people included in the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare’s (THL) vaccination recommendations. Vaccinations will be organised gradually by age group. 

Vaccinations at health stations 

We provide vaccinations at selected health stations and by appointment only. You can book an appointment in Maisa or by calling the dedicated appointment booking number +358 9 310 46300(Link starts a phone call) , Monday–Friday 8.00–16.00. Instructions for booking are available at hel.fi/vaccinations. 

If you are 65 or older, you will receive a booking authorisation in Maisa, along with a separate notification in your account. 

The vaccination schedule at health stations is as follows: 

  • People aged 75 and older: influenza and COVID-19 vaccination from 30 September to 10 October. Both vaccines will be given at the same time. Appointment booking opens on 16 September in Maisa and on 17 September by phone.
  • People aged 65–74: vaccination from 13 October to 24 October. Appointment booking opens on 16 September in Maisa and on 17 September by phone.
  • People under 65: vaccination from 27 October to 14 November. Appointment booking opens on 8 October in Maisa and by phone. 

If you cannot attend during your designated vaccination weeks, you can book an appointment for a later time up until 14 November. 

Vaccinations for clients of care services and home care 

Helsinki City Hospital wards, senior centres and service homes will vaccinate their own clients. Home care clients and their family carers who are included in the vaccination recommendation will receive their vaccinations through home care. Vaccinations for these client groups will be arranged during October and November, and they do not need to book an appointment. 

Vaccinations at maternity and child health clinics 

Influenza vaccinations will be provided at maternity and child health clinics for pregnant people and children aged 6 months to 6 years, during health check-ups and by appointment, from 27 October 2025 to 30 January 2026. 

Clinic clients who belong to the COVID-19 vaccination target group can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Ruoholahti Maternity and Child Health Clinic by appointment. 

Appointments for clinic vaccinations can be booked in Maisa or by calling the clinic’s appointment booking number +358 9 310 55530(Link starts a phone call) (weekdays 8.00–14.00, call-back service 8.00–16.00) from 8 October onwards. 

Vaccinations in school and student health care 

Pupils who are eligible for the influenza vaccination will receive it at their own school. The school nurse will provide information about the vaccination schedule in a separate notice. Please follow the instructions provided by your school. 

Pupils who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination will receive it at Ruoholahti Maternity and Child Health Clinic. For more information, please contact your school nurse.

Who is eligible for a free influenza and COVID-19 vaccination? 

You are entitled to a free vaccination if you belong to one of the following groups: 

Influenza vaccination 

  • Children aged 6 months to 6 years
  • People aged 65 and over
  • Pregnant people
  • Those entering mandatory or voluntary military service
  • People in a medical risk group due to illness or treatment
  • Close family and friends of people who are particularly vulnerable to severe influenza
  • Health, social welfare and pharmaceutical services staff directly involved in the care or treatment of patients and clients (vaccination mainly provided through occupational health care)
  • People living or staying long-term in institutional settings.

Free influenza vaccination is also available to those at risk of avian influenza due to their work or other circumstances.

COVID-19 vaccination 

  • Older people living in care homes or receiving regular home care, as well as older people receiving informal care
  • Everyone aged 75 and over
  • Severely immunocompromised people of all ages
  • People aged 18 and over with two or more underlying medical conditions that increase the risk of severe COVID-19 disease.
